Up for sale vintage Harman Kardon Chorale A 260 stereo amplifier from 1959. Considered to be one of the best tube amplifiers made by HK. This a very rare guest here especially being fully restored. Rated 60W with variable 4-8-16 Ohm output made specifically for tube amplifiers speakers. Output tubes are 6L6GC and this is an improved Version 2 of the amplifier. I tested it with Telefunken SB86 and it’s a breathtaking sound! Do not miss a chance to complete your vintage audio gear! Due to the age coupling caps were replaced with new WIMA ones (pictured). All big electrolythic caps were carefully opened, stuffed with new Matsushita 105 degrees radial caps and sealed so they all look original. This is a true time capsule being over 60 years old and is very uncommon. No major cosmetic issues regular wear (surface scratches, dents, oxidation, pitting, rust due to the age). Included – H-K A-260 power amplifier only. This amplifier is not small and is very heavy, size is 15x5x14 and weight is about 60 lbs! The preamplifier has been upgraded with the Jim McShane Power Supply upgrade kit. Also, all coupling capacitors have been upgraded. The preamplifier has been fully tested with a Fisher Amplifier and Snell Speakers and sounds great. This a great example of the desired Citation I Vacuum Tube Preamplifier. Cosmetically, this preamplifier is in excellent condition without any dents, dings, scratches or other imperfections. There is a small scratch on the top panel of the unit, see pictures. All knobs and switches are original and in excellent condition, and all front- panel and rear-panel lettering are in excellent condition. The front panel is in excellent condition. The unit has survived about 60 years of use without any failures, other that tube replacement. The Original Operators and Assembly Manuals with full-size Schematic Diagram, are Included.
