LOT 5 – I HAVE 19 DOLLS LISTED THAT CAME FROM A DOLL COLLECTION SO CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS – I don’t have a string knowledge of dolls so know that this is a pre owed item and may have normal wear / etc. Eyes are set open. No cracks or chips to the head. MARKED MADE IN GERMANY H K 171. It measures roughly about 26 inches tall. Hi the markings are really…… K made in 14….. These are size markings, and the mold number is the lovely 171….. The kester company used the size markings on these bisque head, composition body dolls about 1899 to about 1915…. They are called the”alphabet series”…. The mold size letters and numbers seems to indicate that these markings were used for the assemblers to add the correct size body. The series started with A 5, B 6, C 7 all the way up to O 18 for a very large doll, skipping the letter i in the alphabet… The letter/number pairs are always consistent…. She is very pretty, hope this adds a little……. Long time kestner collector feel free to post the notes if you care to. Most kestner collectors are very familiar with these alphabet markings….. Antique German Bisque Simon & Halbig, Kammer Reinhardt 8 tall doll! , tiny little top teeth inside open mouth. I found no damage to bisque head, no cracks, hairlines or anything. The compo body does have some darkened areas and some wear. The stringing is very loose on this little doll. If keeping her I would have her re-strung. She can stand with a doll stand but her head is a bit floppy. She comes with a sparse old blonde wig, combination underwear, a slip, a cute drop-waist dress with 3 old metal hooks in back, and a frame of a hat with just a bit of ribbon left. The silk must have completely melted off the hat frame. The shoes are newer ones. This is a sweet old doll in a nice petite size! Be sure to see my many other items.
